cl
mop spilled from two year Saturday (really well)
Let's see if Tom could mop the kitchen floor, that's right he is
going to Mass tonight while I work.
Next: I know my daughter! It will be her last Monday that she will
have chores because Friday she moves into her new apartment. I will text Tom
and see if he likes this idea!
Text: YES, I lllliiiikkkeeee that idea!
There you go great parents always no how to delegate. Really after I write in The Sparrow Sings, I will mop the floor. Instead of crying over spilled milk I will be the adult and really clean up the mess. Actually, when Olivia, my two year old granddaughter threw her sippy cup out and the whole 4 oz (which looked like 20 oz on our tile floor) we quickly mopped up the milk. Our other two year old granddaughter Lexi was over also for a fun Saturday with the girls.
Olivia was leaving to go home. She was excited to go until she realized her cousin was staying. Olivia came over to me and said, "MeeMee Exi shoes".
Two year olds know a whole lot more of whats happening then us adults give them credit! We tend to over estimate how the little bundle of energy see the world.
Olivia threw her cup because she was angry that Lexi was staying. She soon realized by her "Oh nooo" that she should not have done that. I sprung into action not anger to mop up the spilled milk. Olivia began to help me and I let her. My first instict was to remove her from helping.
After raising four children I know kids like to help. It was Olivia way of saying sorry, I knew I should not have thrown my milk. After the mess was cleaned up she gave me a hug and said, I love you. Well she really did say it but I could see it in her eyes. A sparkle in her eye moved me to hug her. That's how I knew Olivia in her own way said she was sorry, and that she knew what she did was not acceptable.
Days later I still remember the quick moments of jealousy, frustration and yet so happy to be going to see her mommy and daddy layed in the two years world in a split second. Can't help but think if only we adults were so able to get along better. I wish friends would be so quick to help clean up the 'spilled milk' of jealousy, fustration and then embrace with forgiveness.
My favorite prayer is the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, the best part that allows me to grow is the verse..."let it begin with me'!
Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
